BNC honored Althea Luehrsen, woman who epitomizes the words “Outstanding Woman”. Althea Luehrsen is the executive Director of Leadership Buffalo where she works daily with developing leaders to enhance their ability to lead and have a positive impact on the WNY community. Althea has spent her entire life in similar activities; she built her own business which served her community, is a strategic coach helping organizations with whom you are very familiar become stronger leaders in our area. She spent more than 10 years at UB growing and strengthening every area that she touched. Her role as the director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at UB grew the program into the highly regarded program for leaders that it is today.
Althea has made a great difference for women in her community in her volunteer life as well serving on boards such as the Susan G. Koman Foundation in WNY, Erie Community College, Empire State College, AFP, Buffalo Niagara Sales & Marketing Executives, UB Center for the Arts Advisory Council.
This is not Althea’s only award, but in the interest of time I will not name them all!! She has been recognized by both her Alma Maters, Sweet Home High School and ECC as a Distinguished Alumni. In March of this year she was honored by the Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives as Executive of the Year.
Like many of the women that Althea mentors and coaches, Althea managed to gracefully mix all of this with the responsibilities of also raising a wonderful Daughter and Son who follow in her footsteps, striving to make the world a better place.
In every phase of her life Althea has worked to make a difference for working women, she is a strong advocate of attracting women to leadership positions at every level, in the office, in the boardroom and in politics.
