ABWA WNY Charter Chapter Professional Development Meeting

Please join us on Wednesday, September 20th, as we provide an evening of education and networking with keynote speaker and member, Dr. Nancy P. Askins, PhD, CMQ/OE. Nancy will be presenting, "Core Values + Decisions + Behaviors & Accomplishments".

Nancy AskinsDr. Nancy P. Askins is an organizational performance excellence scholar-practitioner and human performance technologist with 25+ years' multi-industry experience as a master trainer, facilitator, speaker, coach, and independent consultant. Since October 2005, Dr. Askins has been serving as Executive Director,
Center of Renewal Retreat & Conference Center at Stella Niagara, New York, where she occasionally also presents retreats on mission integration and other values-based topics.

Dr. Askins earned a Ph.D. in Education: Training and Performance Improvement, which was conferred with distinction from Capella University in November 2012. Her dissertation, Core Values Implementation by Mid-Level Managers of a Faith-Based Healthcare System, was selected by the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) for the 2013 Award of Excellence: Outstanding Research/Student Research. Her undergraduate and master's degrees were earned at the University of Cincinnati. She maintains current professional certification from American Society for Quality (ASQ) as Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE).

An advocate of continuous quality improvement, Dr. Askins previously served three years on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners and is currently a Baldrige Ambassador. She was also a national examiner for the President's Quality Award (a Baldrige-based program for governmental agencies) in 2000. Other Baldrige-based experience includes multiple years as a state quality award judge, examiner, and trainer-consultant for various state and regional quality awards' boards of examiners, plus having taught the ASQ Buffalo CMQ/OE certification exam preparation courses.
Her independent part-time training and consulting firm, Askins Learning Institute, specializes in values-based organizational development and performance excellence, also offering Baldrige-based training, consulting, and coaching for both profit and not-for-profit organizations with emphasis in mission integration (core values + mission + vision). Dr. Askins has been an authorized partner for over 20 years with Wiley Publishing of Minneapolis, facilitator of DiSC™ and other research-validated instrumented learning profiles, and is an authorized team partner certified to facilitate Wiley's "The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team". She is also a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Teacher and Speaker, offering strategies for leadership, values-based coaching, and mentoring.
Active in professional, faith-based, and civic organizations, Dr. Askins has held a myriad of officer and board positions locally, regionally, and nationally, along with being a presenter at numerous national and regional conferences, seminars and tutorials, plus keynote speeches and a commencement address. Organizations have included ASQ, ISPI, American Society for Training & Development (ASTD), American Business Women's Association (ABWA), and multiple chambers of commerce boards of directors in New Jersey, Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the Niagara River Region. A 2004 Leadership Niagara (LN) graduate, Dr. Askins is a current mentor and has served as facilitator and curriculum developer of various Leadership Niagara and Leadership Youth of Niagara Communities (LYNC) learning programs. She designed and facilitated various board retreats when core values, revised mission statements, assessments, and visionary directions were developed and reassessed by LN and other community-based groups.

She and her husband, Arthur J. Askins, CPA, CHA, CFE have been selected for more than 20 years to be included in Who's Who in America and other related Marquis bibliographic reference publications; they happily reside in Western New York.
